The vehicles in GRID 2 are grouped accordingly to their performance in four tiers.
Throughout the World Series of Racing seasons, the player's investor will reward new cars at key milestones in the career with choices between two cars. The car that was not chosen, as well as other new cars can be earned upon beating Vehicle Challenges. During online, new cars can be unlocked upon reaching higher levels.
Players can customise the appearance of their vehicles by choosing from a variety of paint patterns, colours, race number, and finishes. They can also personalise the style of wheels and select up to 6 sponsor decals.
Additional vehicles would me made available in downloadable content packs throughout 2013, and they are unlocked upon installing in both offline and online modes:
- Bathurst Track Pack - Two new cars and the Mount Panorama Circuit.
- Classic GRID Pack - Two new cars.
- Demolition Derby Pack - A new car and the Detroit Demolition Derby Stadium.
- Drift Pack - Four new cars.
- GTR Racing Pack - A new car and daytime option for Yas Marina.
- Headstart Pack - A new car and online bonus.
- IndyCar Pack - A new car, routes at Indianapolis, plus liveries.
- McLaren Racing Pack - A new car and routes at Brands Hatch.
- Peak Performance Pack - Six new tuned cars.
- Spa-Francorchamps Track Pack - Two new cars and Spa-Francorchamps.
- Super Modified Pack - Four new cars.
